The Marino Ballena National Park is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, featuring the iconic sand formation known as “The Whale’s Tail” and the spectacular arrival of hundreds of humpback whales during two distinct seasons each year. However, its true treasure lies beneath the surface.
Few people realize the incredible underwater richness this park offers. A vast rocky reef, primarily covered by soft coral and marine sponges, stretches from Dominicalito to the iconic Piedra Ballena. This area is a diver’s paradise, teeming with marine life. Encounters with sea turtles, sharks, hundreds of fish species, and a variety of invertebrates are common.
At Costa Rica Dive and Surf, we have been exploring these dive sites for over 17 years, allowing us to develop an in-depth understanding of the area. Our extensive experience enables us to offer high-quality dives while prioritizing safety, fun and diving education.
Although these dives are exceptional, it is important to note that, like most coastal dive sites in Costa Rica, underwater visibility can be significantly affected during the rainy season. For this reason, we operate our Marino Ballena National Park dive trips exclusively from January to April, when conditions are optimal for an unforgettable experience.
